16 Apr Welcoming Our First Batch
The Beginning of a New Journey
There is no manual for the first day. No preparation that fully accounts for the feeling of standing at the edge of something new, scissors in hand, the
future arranged somewhere just ahead of you, slightly out of focus and entirely worth reaching for.
When Number76 Academy welcomed its inaugural batch of students, that was the feeling in the room. Not nervousness, exactly. Something closer to
readiness. These were young men and women who had chosen a path that not everyone around them might have understood, and they had chosen it anyway. That says something about who they are before they have even made their first cut.
Starting Strong with Industry-Focused Training
From the opening week, Number76 Academy’s approach makes one thing clear: this is not a place where theory and practice exist in separate rooms. Every lesson is built around the rhythms of a real salon. Students learn to manage their station, to read a client, to hold a conversation while keeping their
hands steady, to carry themselves with the quiet composure that separates a professional from a beginner.
The curriculum is structured and demanding, and it is meant to be. The industry students are preparing to enter does not allow for half-measures. A
haircut is seen. A colour is worn. The work is visible in a way that few other crafts are, and at Number76 Academy, students learn to take that visibility
seriously.
But the training is never harsh for its own sake. There is warmth inside the discipline. Instructors do not simply correct, they explain. They do not simply demonstrate, they invite. The classroom atmosphere carries the same spirit as the best salons: focused, encouraging, and alive with the kind of energy that builds over time.
Our Programmes
To support different learning pathways and personal goals, Number76 Academy offers two distinct programmes, each designed to take students from where they are to where they want to be.
SLDN — Sistem Latihan Dual Nasional
A government-recognised dual-training programme that alternates between classroom learning and real on-the-job experience at partner salons. Students gain technical skills and genuine professional exposure at the same time, building a portfolio of real-world practice that no classroom alone can provide. SLDN graduates leave with a nationally recognised qualification and the practical confidence to back it up.
ADI — Advanced Diploma in Hairdressing International
Designed for those who are reaching further. The ADI programme takes students into advanced territory: editorial techniques, international creative standards, complex colour systems, and the kind of elevated client experience that defines the world’s leading salons. Graduates of this programme are equipped not just for employment, but for careers that cross borders.
The Journey Begins
To the parents reading this: your son or daughter chose something real. They stepped away from the expected path and toward one that asks more of them, one that rewards that effort with a skill that belongs to them completely, something no economic shift can take away.
To the students themselves: the first batch is never just the first batch. You are the proof of concept, the ones who show every student who comes after you that this is possible. That it is worth it. Carry that with you.
This is more than learning a skill. This is building a
life.
